Gate Piers At South Entrance, Lathrisk Home Farm

The building comprises a farmhouse dated 1852, flanked by steading wings and a walled garden. The farmhouse is a two-storey and attic structure with five bays, exhibiting simplified classical details. It is constructed of ashlar. The central entrance features a panelled door with a fanlight, while the first-floor windows have broad margins and cornices. Additional windows include plate glass sashes on the ground floor and twelve-pane sashes on the first floor. A panelled band course runs above the ground floor, with a cill course below the first-floor windows. A cornice and blocking course are present, topped by a steep pediment with an oculus. Two gabled dormers are visible in the roof. Corniced axial and end stacks rise from the slate roof. To the west, a single-storey steading wing is built of ashlar with a slated roof; to the east, a wing is constructed of rubble with a pantile roof. The farmhouse is linked to a rectangular, walled garden to the north. This garden is enclosed by red brick walls, with the upper courses partially rebuilt, and features buttresses with ashlar dressings and flat coping, along with rusticated ashlar angle piers. A panelled wooden gate is set within the north wall. Inside the walls, a derelict glasshouse stands, having an ashlar base and wrought-iron finials. The main entrance is marked by corniced, square, rusticated ashlar gate piers connected by quadrant walls.
