Burnside, Lathrisk House

Burnside, formerly the laundry for Lathrisk House, is a late 18th century building constructed in a picturesque Gothic style. It is a two-storey rectangular structure built of stugged ashlar with polished dressings. A modern, pebble-dashed addition to the north includes a doorway. The original windows have pointed heads and shaped keystones; some retain Y-traceried sashes ornamented with spun glass. There is a single original window on the east side, two on the north elevation, and two on the west elevation, where an unfortunate modern window has also been added. The primary south elevation features a tall, central tripartite window (with modern glazing) flanked by tall lancet alcoves. The building has a cornice and a blocking course, which appears as a narrow eaves band on the other elevations. Corniced wall-head stacks rise from the east and west elevations, and the roof is steeply pitched and covered in slate.
