Visitor Accommodation, Scottish Lime Centre, 9 Rocks Road, Charlestown

The Visitor Accommodation at the Scottish Lime Centre on Rocks Road in Charlestown is a former school building from 1768, originally part of the Broomhall Estate. It is a two-storey structure with a rectangular plan and five bays, constructed from sandstone rubble with a slaister harling finish. The rear of the building is harled, and some windows feature ashlar surrounds.

On the west (principal) elevation, there are six tall windows on the ground floor, one of which is blocked, and five first-floor windows, with three of them centered above the ground floor windows. The north elevation has a door on the first floor. The east elevation features four ground floor windows with alternating tall windows, a lean-to porch on the far right, a small window, and a door in the left return. Above the ground floor, there are four squat first-floor windows centered above the ground floor windows, along with a larger fifth window to the right. The south elevation has a modern lean-to porch with steps and a central first-floor window.

The building predominantly has tall ground floor windows and squat first-floor windows, with 12-pane timber sash and case windows and horizontal glazing in the tall ground floor windows. The upper storey features 8-pane timber sash and case bipartite windows. The roof is piended slate, and there is a tall, rendered, and coped wallhead stack to the left of the principal elevation, with three additional stacks at the rear. The interior was not seen in 2000.
