Methilhill House, Sea Road, Buckhaven

Methilhill House, located on Sea Road in Buckhaven, is an early 19th-century house that stands two stories high with an attic and features three bays. The exterior is harled, with stone margins and quoin strips.

The principal elevation faces southeast and is symmetrical. The central bay is slightly advanced, featuring a door at ground level and a window on the first floor that breaks the eaves into a timpany gable. Each of the flanking bays has a window on both floors, with canted dormer windows above.

On the northeast elevation, there is a gabled section with a door to the right at ground level and a window above it. There is also a single-storey piended wing on the outer right, which has a boarded timber door and a two-part fanlight to the right of centre, along with a window to the outer right, two windows to the left, and an additional door on the outer left.

The southwest elevation is largely obscured by a boundary wall, but it has a window to the left of centre on the first floor and a lower wing adjoining on the outer left.

The windows throughout the house feature various glazing patterns, including 8-pane, 12-pane, and plate glass in timber sash and case frames. The chimneys are made of coped ashlar and harled materials, with some having polygonal cans.

The interior was not seen in 1998. The property is enclosed by coped rubble boundary walls that surround a large garden.
