4 Wilson Square, Methilhill, Methil

6 Wilson Square in Methilhill, built in 1924 by A Stewart Tod, is a U-plan courtyard of miners' cottages designed in a plain Scots/classical style. The complex consists of three long and low ranges of single-storey cottages, featuring three and four bays, with prominent pedimented centrepieces. The exterior is harled with painted margins and an eaves course.

The south elevation, which is the north range, has a 14-bay gabled range of four cottages. It includes two central windows topped by a dominant pediment that breaks the eaves above, with a door and flanking windows to the right and again in the outer bays, mirroring these six bays to the left of centre. All doors feature a two-part fanlight.

The east range has an 8-bay piended design with two cottages, detailed similarly to the centre cottages on the south elevation. The west range mirrors the east range.

The cottages have a 12-pane glazing pattern, except for No. 7, which has plate glass glazing in timber sash and case windows. The roofs are covered with red pantiles, and there are coped harled ridge and gablehead stacks, with dominant shouldered stacks breaking the eaves to the north and south of the piended ranges. Cast-iron downpipes are fitted with decorative rainwater hoppers.
