Methilhill Cemetery, Holly Bank, Methilhill

Methilhill Cemetery, located to the northwest of the main cemetery, dates from the 17th and 18th centuries. It features a variety of monuments, including a tabletop gravestone with a moulded cornice supported by three moulded pedestals, inscribed with the name 'Janet Steven spouse of Robert Wood who died 1771'. There is also a low, flat-coped ashlar enclosure for the 'Peter' family, which includes a three-stage obelisk on the northwest wall. An inlaid slab at the second stage commemorates 'John Peter 1808-1814'.

The gravestones in the cemetery are predominantly classical in style, with some older simple moulded apex stones. Notable examples include a headstone from 1798, 'Erected by Thomas Berwick Shipmaster Dubbiesaide'; a stone from 1821, 'Erected by David Martin Kirkland'; and a stone from 1820, 'Erected by William Irvine of Methil Mill in memory of his father James'.
