Description
The Laurels is a house dated 1870, comprising a single-storey and attic centre block with a single-storey wing to the north and a cross wing to the south. The construction is of snecked rubble with droved ashlar margins and quoins. The east front features an advanced gable to the cross wing on the right, with a coped gable having set-offs halfway down, a central bipartite window beneath a hood-mould, and a small armorial panel above. The centre block has three windows, with quoined rybats at ground level. The wallhead is gabled with finialled dormers over the outer bays, having straight skews. Rectangular end stacks with block cornices are present. The north wing has an entrance to the left, sheltered by a curvilinear, finialled gablet with an inset date, and a tall, gabled bipartite window to the right. It has coped skews, a slated roof, and an octagonal end stack. A round, coped rubble boundary wall incorporates a pair of rectangular, chamfered gatepiers with a cornice and cope, bearing the inscription 'The Laurels'.
