Description
St Leonard's School in St Andrews was founded in 1512, succeeding the Culdee and Augustinian hospital. The building has undergone significant reconstruction in the 16th and 17th centuries. The east part is likely mainly from 1617, remodeled around 1800, and given a Gothic-style facade, constructed from coursed droved rubble with oriel windows, designed by J Milne in 1853.
The west part is dated 1655 and features battlements. The center of the north front has a pediment from the late 18th century and a modern porch. Inside, the hall, which has been surrounded by later additions, showcases early 18th century carving of the Hepburn arms.
