Description
Priorsgate, located at 2 South Street in St Andrews, was rebuilt in the late 18th century and has an L-shaped plan with vaulted cellars. It originally formed part of Queen Mary's House and is a three-storey building featuring five windows, constructed from droved rubble with margins and a slated roof. There is an old walled garden and a two-storey outbuilding to the south, which has plain pedimented gables made of rubble and slate. In the garden at the rear, there is a bottle-shaped, subterranean brick chamber, possibly dating back to the 16th century, which includes a stone drainage channel set into the upper wall. This chamber may have been used for water storage.
