Description
The former workshop building, dating from the late 19th century, is a symmetrical, 11-bay rectangular structure. It features a central 2-storey, 3-bay block with a pedimented gable, flanked by 4-bay wings that have end gables. The building is constructed of Scotch-bonded red brick, with ashlar window sills and coping. Notable architectural details include a corbelled brick eaves course, banding on the pediment, round-arched windows and doors, and shallow brick pilasters that divide the bays in the wings. Oculi windows are present at the apexes of the end gables.
Additional features include a raised brick architrave at the center with a timber door and a clock face in the center of the pediment. There are 2-leaf timber-boarded doors providing vehicle access on the west elevation. Some openings on the rear elevation have been partially infilled, and there is a segmental-arched hoist door at the first floor center.
Inside, simple cornicing and ceiling roses can be seen through the upper floor openings. The building retains some small-pane glazing in timber-framed fixed-pane windows, along with grey Scottish slate, and ashlar skews and skewputs.
