1-18 Bryen Court, Carronflats Road, Grangemouth

1-18 Bryen Court on Carronflats Road in Grangemouth is a former high school built in 1908. This classically detailed, two-storey building is constructed of red sandstone ashlar, with the ground floor featuring channeling and good sculptural details.

The long south elevation consists of 15 bays arranged in blocks of three. The central and end blocks are slightly advanced, with the outer bays featuring pediments. The inner section has a blocking course and a date stone, along with a stone plinth designed for a handsome sculpture group. The outer bays have a ground storey that forms a channelled plinth above broad channelled angle piers, with two paired Ionic columns flanking the central first-floor windows. The centre bay of the central block is simplified with piers instead of columns.

The east and west elevations each have seven bays arranged in a 3-1-3 pattern, with entrances for boys and girls located in the wider central bay. This central bay features broad channelled angle piers, an open pediment above the door, and a crowning segmental pediment. The west elevation now has a modern link corridor that connects to newer buildings that do not have special architectural merit.
