Rhuallan House, 1 Montgomery Drive, Giffnock

Rhuallan House is a villa built probably in the 1880s, featuring two storeys and an attic with Scots Renaissance detailing. The house has a prominent conical-roofed turreted bay on the southwest side. It is constructed of stugged ashlar with polished dressings and narrow window margins, and showcases elaborate strapwork pediments. The windows are single, mullioned, and/or transomed, fitted with plate glass sashes. The bays closest to the southwest turret have shaped wall-head gables, and there is a corbelled bartizan at the northwest corner topped with a large conical roof. The west side includes a canted window with a door, while the east flank features a south-facing porch with a doorway that has a shaped head. The house has wall-head stacks and broad-eaved slate roofs. Additionally, there is a balustraded high retaining wall along Fenwick Road, complemented by square gatepiers.
