The Standards

The Standards is a single-storey lodge built around 1830, constructed from Cullalo ashlar with red sandstone rubble on the sides and rear. It has chamfered arrises at the main openings and features an L-plan layout with a gabled porch located in the re-entrant angle.

On the southeast elevation, there is an advanced gable to the left with a projecting panel at the center, which has a stone roof and a timber mullioned bipartite window, along with a blind arrow slit above. The porch is situated in the re-entrant angle, and there is a window to the right that is positioned close to the porch. The east gable also has a window with an arrow slit above it.

The building includes harled flat-roofed and lean-to rear extensions. The sash and case windows have a lying-pane glazing pattern. The roof is covered with grey slates and features linked ashlar diamond stacks set on a base at the center ridge. A gutterhead on the building is dated 1856.
