Description

Circa 1840. Single storey gabled gate lodge, with later

extensions. Red Bourhouse ashlar sandstone, partly harled, with

base and string courses, raised margins with chamfered arrises.

Blank square panels in gableheads.

E (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: 3 gabled bays. Doorway at centre,

panelled door under canopied gable. Canted window to right

splayed to square at gablehead. Stone mullioned bipartite to

outer left bay.

N ELEVATION: canted bay detailed as above.

S ELEVATION: sympathetic gabled extension.

Various additions to W.

Plate glass sash and case windows, some horizontal pane. Large

grey slates; polygonal ashlar stacks with moulded coping.

Decorative timber barge boards with pendants and wrought-iron

finials, some missing.

PIERS AND PARAPETS: polygonal ashlar gatepiers with pyramid

caps; coped ashlar parapets with 'Chinese' timber fences. Rubble boundary walls to policies of main house, adjoined at NW angle.
