Description

Built 1731-33 and dated 1762, altered 1875 and renovated 1885 and 1901. Behind the

Tolbooth and at right angles to main street frontage, 2

storeys, 3 windows wide. Piended slate roof, ashlar with

rusticated ground floor and quoins. Ground has 3 arched

openings with projecting impost moulds and keyblocks, now

closed with 2 windows and a door. 1st floor windows have

Gibbs architraves alternating pediments, 2 with segmental

and 1 triangular. Tolbooth quarter turn forestair with

1st floor porch, shared with Tolbooth, provides access to

1st floor hall. 6-pane sash windows. A large mid 19th

century hall at rear of Town Hall and Tolbooth has windows

to rear court.
