Description
Beanston is a farmhouse dated 1691 on the lintel, although it has an early 19th-century character due to many alterations made in the 19th century. It is a two-storey, five-bay double-pile structure with a basement, featuring white painted harling and painted margins, along with a blocking course and chamfered reveals.
There are steps with barley sugar cast-iron railings leading to the central door, which has a roll-moulded architrave dated 1691 adorned with leaves at the angles and a strip fanlight above. On either side of the door, there are unfortunate tripartite windows with stone mullions and a heavy lintel at ground level, along with three windows in the basement to the right. The first floor has five windows, and there is an irregular window pattern at the rear, with iron bars on the basement and stair window.
The windows are sash and case style, predominantly featuring a 12-pane glazing pattern, with plate glass used in the tripartite windows. The roof is covered with grey slates and has a piended design, supported by four sandstone wallhead stacks with cornices.
