Presbytery, Star Of The Sea, R.C. Church Of Our Lady, Law Road, North Berwick

The presbytery of the Star of the Sea, part of the Roman Catholic Church of Our Lady, was built in 1887. It is designed as a rectangular block house with a first floor that breaks the eaves, and it is connected to the church by a backing vestibule and church sacristy. The exterior is constructed of squared rubble with ashlar dressings.

On the west front, there is a recessed linking passage that features a narrow light to the north and a carved lintel. To the south, there is a chamfered doorway with a panelled door and a fanlight above. A gabled dormer is positioned above this entrance. The ground floor includes two single lights on the north side, with a French mansard dormer window above. To the south, there is an advanced gabled bay, and a canted, three-light bay window at ground level, which has gabletted crenellation. The first floor window is hoodmoulded.

The ground floor is fitted with plate glass sash windows, while the first floor features four-pane windows. The roof is steeply pitched and piended, covered with slate and accented with red terracotta ridge tiles, tiles, and ball finials, along with lead flashings on the slopes. There are end stacks and some timber bracket supports for the simple barge boarded gables.
