Description

Complicated farmhouse of several building phases, possibly incorporating 17th century core, and certainly with earlier to mid 18th century fabric. Gabled wing added to S in 19th century, porch and pentice roofed bays to N, and gablehead to existing stairblock. Windows enlarged. Rubble, harled with rounded corners to earlier fabric; painted ashlar surrounds to 19th century openings and alterations. Walls 4'thick. N elevation: 2 E-W blocks adjoined; that to left earlier, of 3 bays with steeply pitched gable; right block of 2

bays, slightly advanced. Porch addition to outer left, linked to advanced right block by pentice-roofed in-fill. S elevation: 19th century wing projecting at outer right; earlier stairblock in re-entrant angle; bipartite inserted to left. Evidence of W block of E-W core indicated by stacks. Side elevations of E-W range with 2 bays to E, and blank to W. Plate glass sash and case windows. Grey slates. End and mutual gable stacks; thackstanes. Ashlar coping to skews of later additions.
