Description
Renton Hall is a farmhouse dating from around 1800, featuring two storeys and three bays. It is constructed of red rubble sandstone with grey ashlar dressings, and the west front is squared and coursed, while the rear elevation is painted with ashlar margins, a base course, and an eaves course. The west elevation was enhanced around 1820 and includes a corniced and pilastered doorpiece at the center, which has a deep-set, flush-panelled door and a decorative fanlight above. There is a window above this door on the first floor, and stone mullioned tripartite windows in the outer bays on each floor. The east elevation features a stair window at the center and additional windows in the outer bays on each floor. A single-storey porch with a piend roof is attached to the southeast corner, with a doorway located in the re-entrant angle to the north. Both the north and south gables have attic windows. There is also a garage addition on the south elevation. The property includes a walled garden, which has high rubble walls that are harl pointed, surrounding a rectangular garden to the east. The gatepiers at the south drive are square ashlar with pyramidal copes.
