Description
Collin's Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 17th century, with an addition from the 18th century and alterations made in the 19th century. It has rubble walls that are partly rendered, and a hipped roof on the front block, with a half-hipped roof on the rear wing. There are two rendered stacks at the rear of the front block, aligned with the rear wings, and a cut-off gable end rubble stack on each rear wing.
The original layout of the house is not clear, but the two rear wings, which are at right angles to each other, are probably from the 17th century and feature a stair projection in the angle, although the original stairs have been removed and the internal room arrangement has been significantly altered. In the late 18th century, a new rectangular front block was added, consisting of two principal rooms on either side of a stair hall, with a larger room on the left. The house underwent internal alterations in the 19th century.
The farmhouse has three storeys and an asymmetrical front with three windows, which are arranged to the right. There is one window on the ground floor, featuring early 19th century 12-pane hornless sashes, while the second-floor windows have nine panes. The ground floor right-hand window and the second-floor left-hand window are later replacements. To the right of the center, there is a probably 19th-century six-panel door beneath an 18th-century heavy door hood with a simply molded cornice. The two rear wings are parallel behind the left side and at right angles behind the right side, with the latter having a rectangular stair projection on its inner face.
Inside, there are few original features visible in the rear wing, some of which may be concealed. The features in the front block mainly date from the mid-19th century and include panelled shutters and a staircase with an open string and stick balusters.
