Description

The Pavilion at Polwarth Playing Fields in Prestonpans is an early 20th-century building with a later addition at the rear. It is a single-storey structure with an attic, featuring a rendered and whitewashed exterior complemented by red brick detailing and a deep brick base course.

The south elevation is notable for its nine bays, which include an advanced three-light canted center and outer bays, all topped with crenellated blocking courses. The eaves break at the center bay, which features a bipartite window in the attic. Steps lead up to the central seven bays, where timber doors are flanked by single windows, and the overhanging eaves create a loggia effect.

The east elevation consists of four bays divided by vertical brick bands, with a pair of small windows in the bays flanking the center. The north elevation is mostly obscured by a wall but has three small windows evenly arranged in the outer left bay and a projecting central bay with a small window to the right of center. There is a single-storey addition to the right.

The west elevation was not visible in 2000. The building features a variety of metal windows, a red pantile roof with a terracotta ridge, and a stylised wallhead stack at the north elevation, which is brick-coped and has a circular can. Cast-iron rainwater goods are also present. The interior was not seen in 2000.
