Description
Newbarns is a mid-18th century, two-storey, three-bay farmhouse built from roughly squared pink sandstone rubble, featuring broad droving to the quoins.
On the south elevation, the three bays are spaced widely, with a central doorway that has a panelled door, and a window above it, along with windows in each outer bay, two of which retain their original size. The north elevation has irregular openings, with a door located at the centre.
Both the east and west elevations have gables that feature square, blocked attic windows. The east side has a later window at ground level, while the west side retains original windows on each floor and includes a flat-roofed single-storey stone porch that projects outward.
The farmhouse has plate glass sash and case windows, grey slate roofing, and ashlar coped skew stones. Gable end stacks are also present.
Surrounding the property are coped rubble retaining walls and quadrants to the south, along with ashlar polygonal gatepiers topped with pyramidal caps.
