Description

The War Memorial in Stenton, dating from around 1920, is constructed of pink sandstone ashlar and commemorates those who served in the First World War. It is located in a canted recess of the boundary wall of the Parish Church, sitting on a sandstone base. The memorial features a square plinth inscribed with the words "Their Name Liveth for Evermore," which supports a pedestal with a recessed panel and an additional inscription. Above this, there is a tapering panel adorned with a carved ribbon that is dated 1914-1918, along with an ogee inset that bears the shield of a Scottish lion. The structure is topped with a cross finial.
