Description
Marine Cottage, located in Eldbotle Wood, is a single-storey gabled service cottage dating from the mid to later 19th century, originally serving Marine Villa. The building features squared and snecked rubble with contrasting ashlar dressings and chamfered arrises.
On the south elevation, there is a harled porch that has been added, featuring a flat roof and a depressed arched surround. This is flanked by bipartite windows, which include a diamond-pane timber casement window. To the outer left, there is a harled outbuilding with a piend roof that is adjoined to the cottage.
The north elevation has two widely grouped windows with 4-pane sash and case. The outbuilding is also present to the outer right. The east gable is blank, while the west gable has a piend roofed outbuilding. The pitched roof is covered with green slates, has overhanging eaves supported by timber eaves brackets, and features coped diamond ashlar stacks at the centre of the ridge.
