Walled Garden, Auburn, Manse Road, Dirleton

Auburn, located on Manse Road in Dirleton, is a house dating from the later 18th century, with alterations made around 1840. It is a two-storey, three-bay structure that features a single-storey wing. The building is constructed from roughly coursed rubble, with droved ashlar dressings that have chamfered arrises around the openings, and it has raised quoins.

On the southeast elevation, there is a central doorway that includes a decorative fanlight and a panelled door. Flanking the doorway are tripartite windows, with bipartite windows above them, which were added around 1840. To the right, there is a recessed single-storey, four-bay wing that has an off-centre doorway with a fanlight to the left and a small blocked light to the right. The remaining bays feature bipartite windows.

The rear of the building includes a stair window and an addition. The windows throughout the house have a small-pane glazing pattern, consisting of both casement and sash and case styles.
