Description
This is an early 19th century cartshed and granary, converted into a residence. It is constructed of random rubble with stugged ashlar dressings, featuring chamfered reveals to the arches. The north elevation has eight arches at ground level, with four wide windows above, lighting the loft space. The south elevation shows two doorways and three tall windows at ground level, and seven windows on the first floor, with alterations to original openings. Modern skylights have been added. A glazed porch and a conservatory are located on the outer left side of the building. A large loft doorway, glazed, is positioned in the west gable. The roof has straight skews and renewed red pantiles, with an unobtrusive modern ridge stack. The building originally formed part of Gilmerton Home Farm. Gilmerton Estate Plans, referenced as RHP1394 and RHP1393, provide additional historical context.
