Description

City Architect's Office, 1934. Single storey, concave plan with rectangular wings, Art Deco Beach Shelter and conveniences. Brick construction, concrete flat roof and piers. Windows with decorative wrought-iron grilles.

S ELEVATION: symmetrical; open concave loggia at centre, slender piers with simple mosaic detail to capitals; flanking canted windows (kiosks, boarded) with cornice and blocking course; further lower bays at left and right with 5 windows at top, decorative detail to frieze above comprised of layered tiles in section: entrances set back at E andW elevations, simple wallhead coping.

N ELEVATION: 3 sets of paired windows at central (convex) bay, 5 windows to flanking bays.
