1 Ambrose Street, Broughty Ferry, Dundee

This is a circa 1850, two-storey, two-bay house located at 1 Ambrose Street, Broughty Ferry, Dundee. The house has undergone extensive restoration. It is constructed with harled walls with painted concrete margins, a slate roof, and a coped harled stack.

The east elevation features a doorway on the left side. It has twelve-pane sash and case windows; one at ground floor level and two at the first floor level. A skew gable is at the right side.

The north gable is largely hidden by the adjacent building at 3 Ambrose Street, but a single eight-pane sash and case window is visible on each floor towards the left side, along with a gable stack.

The property adjoins 167 Fisher Street to the left. The house appears on James Leslie’s Plan of the River Tay from 1849, held at the Central Library, Dundee, and was likely constructed between 1857 and 1858.
