Description
The American Land, located at 28 Cleghorn Street in Dundee, is a distinctive four-storey, three-bay tenement built in 1903. It features coursed and snecked rubble construction. The entrance is off-centre, and there are bipartite windows set within the margins of the building. A notable feature is the striking three-stage stair window, which is located within a keystoned segmental-arched recess. The landings are fronted by metal panels, and the glazing is framed in metal. Above the stair, there is a metal datestone. The building has a boldly cantilevered coved cornice, and the parapet has been rebuilt in brick. The flat concrete roof serves as a drying green. The windows are sash and case with a two-pane glazing pattern.
