Description
The Clydesdale Bank, located at 89 Gray Street in Broughty Ferry, Dundee, is an earlier 19th century, two-storey, three-bay building that had an attic added in 1905. It features ashlar stonework with rubble on the north elevation, margined angles, painted margins, and a slate roof with a snecked rubble stack. The windows are primarily two-pane sash and case with moulded architraves. The building has a Mansard roof with ashlar skew gables that have roll angles and terracotta ridge tiles.
On the Gray Street elevation, there is a modern door at the center, with flanking windows that have been widened to bipartite with timber mullions. The first floor has three windows, and there is a cornice along with a mannered blocking course. The Mansard attic includes a segmentally-pedimented dormer window at the center, with flanking pedimented bipartite windows.
The Brook Street elevation features a base course, with a window and an adjoining door on the right that has a bracketed cornice, and a similarly corniced window on the left. The first floor mirrors the Gray Street elevation with two windows and includes a moulded gablehead stack.
