Description

St Mary's Hall is a rectangular-plan, two-storey church hall built from brick between 1934 and 1935 by W W Friskin. The elevation facing Gray's Lane features a modern symmetrical design. The ground floor has a prominent tiled double entrance with recessed sides, and there are curved outer bays connected by a patterned brick fascia canopy. A central blind arch is flanked by V-pilaster strips topped with cross finials, and the sides of the building step up.

The side elevations are plain, while the rear has a gabled design. The ground floor originally had round-headed windows that have since been altered to rectangular heads, with single-lights above featuring patterned brick cills and lintels, as well as the gable's skews.

The roof is slate and piended towards Gray's Lane. The windows on this elevation have modern metal frames with horizontal glazing, while the side and rear windows are sash and case with small paned glazing patterns.

Inside, the vestibule has terrazzo flooring, and there are war memorial door surrounds. The first-floor hall features an open steel trussed roof.
