Description

The Eagle Inn, located at 157-159 King Street in Broughty Ferry, Dundee, is a late 18th century, two-storey, L-plan inn with an east wing added in the mid-19th century. The building features harled walls with painted margins and a slate roof.

On the King Street elevation, there is a wide gable on the left side. It has a base course and an angle margin at the left, with a slightly off-centre margined door and a large-paned window to the left. To the right, there is a cross window. At the centre of the first floor, there is a carved eagle by James Law, created around 1860, which is flanked by four-pane sash and case windows. The attic features two symmetrical windows, and the skew gable has skewputts and a coped stack.

The elevation on the right, which dates from the mid-19th century, includes a base course, two margined doors, and a six-pane window on the right. There are also two four-pane sash and case windows on the first floor, along with a coped gable stack on the right.

On the Fort Street elevation, there is a base course and an angle margin on the right. A margined door is located on the left, with a band course at the first floor level. The first floor features a central bipartite window, flanked by four-pane sash and case windows. The skew gable on the left has a skewputt and a truncated brick stack.
