Description

James Carruthers of Glasgow, 1931. Edwardian baroque

survival. Red ashlar, channelled at basement; architraved

windows. 2 storeys with wall-head attic storey and railed

basement, 7 pilastered bays, shallow advanced and wider

central entrance bay with granite staircase with

wrought-iron lamp brackets, round-headed doorway, arched

doorpiece on blocked columns. Corniced ground floor

windows; 2nd floor windows (central tripartite) with wide

key-blocks. Main entablature with blocked cornice; attic

storey with band course stepped over windows. Corniced

stacks; slate roof. Tall rear ranges.
