Description
Meggerland Row in Kirkandrews is a pair of cottages built around 1900 for the Knockbrex Estate. These picturesque cottages are single storey with an attic and feature three bays, flanked by lower set-back bays, with the right side having a modern glazed porch. The outer bays have projecting canted windows, while the center bays contain timber boarded doors and small projecting porch-lintels. The inner bays are fitted with tripartite windows. All windows are casement style with small pane glazing, and there are small projecting single light dormers that illuminate the attic. The cottages have deeply overhanging swept eaves, piended slate roofs, and ceramic ridges topped with terminal crockett crests. Corniced axial stacks are also present. The rear elevation is similarly detailed, featuring projecting canted bay windows and tripartite windows, all with plate glass glazing.
