Description
Knockbrex Bathing House is a picturesque grotto-bathing house built after 1915 for James Brown of Knockbrex. It is located half a mile southeast of Knockbrex House. The building has a symmetrical rectangular plan and is a single storey high, featuring a corbel eaves course and a castellated parapet. The structure is made of rubble-faced concrete and became roofless in 1988 due to a fire.
The advanced center bay includes a round-arched door with flanking oculi. The side elevations are adorned with wide rectangular windows. Inside, the ground plan is symmetrical, with a round-arched fireplace on the north wall, flanked by changing cubicles.
Additionally, there is a castellated store to the southeast, constructed of coursed random rubble. This former store has a single doorway and a battlemented parapet.
