Description
161 North Drumlanrig Street in Thornhill is a single storey and attic cottage, originally dated 1795 on the door lintel, but it has been substantially altered in the mid 19th century. The cottage features a three-bay design at the north end of a long row. Its exterior is made of coursed, stugged rubble with ashlar margins, all painted. The central entrance has a modern door and plate glass sash windows, with a horse reins ring next to the door. The roof is slate, with straight skews at the north and end stacks. The north gable has two bays with small-paned glazing, and there is a rear outshot with a wall-head stack and dormers. A walled garden extends to the north, enclosed by iron railings.
