Description

Whitcastles House appears to date from the early 19th century, though it likely incorporates an earlier house, and has undergone some alterations. It is a two-storey, three-bay, double-pile farmhouse with twin-gabled ends. The exterior is whitewashed rubble with painted ashlar margins. The windows are mostly sash windows with a 12-pane glazing pattern. A gabled porch was inserted centrally on the south elevation, flanked by bipartites with plate glass glazing. There are three windows on the first floor. Axial stacks are located at the ends and off-centre. The roofs are covered with graded slates, swept at the north end over a rear outshot, with the porch set in a re-entrant angle.
