Description

Built circa 1660. Altered 2-storey 3-bay house abutting S

parapet of Devorgilla's bridge, main entrance raised at

built-up bridge approach. Rear jamb added probably first half

of 18th century. Roughly-coursed red rubble with squared

dressings, enlarged late 19th/early 20th century openings with

polished ashlar slab margins; blind wide arch in W gable.

Main (N) elevation to bridge approach, door and flanking

upper windows all with slab margins; blocked openings flank

door; lower (?original) window right with relieving arch;

spur stones at angle, SE angle corbelled above ground. Back

door in re-entrant angle. Straight skews (except over jamb);

rebuilt end stacks; roofed with uniform slates.

Some early (?original) timbers; attic floor with rye chaff

insulation.
