Description
The former stables at Burnfoot Hall date from the mid 19th century and are designed in a near symmetrical U-plan facing south. They feature a canopy supported by cast-iron columns and covered with glass, which connects the outer ranges. The building is single storey with loft openings in the gables. It is constructed from stugged and snecked ashlar with polished dressings.
The inner range includes a three-bay coach-house with timber doors, a central wallhead gable that has kneelers, an oculus, and two bothy windows. The north elevation features bipartite windows at ground level and ventilators in the east gable. Each range has a single bay facing the courtyard. The building has projecting eaves, stacks with diamond flues, and axial ventilators, with roofs covered in graded slates.
To the east, the service courtyard's wall abuts one gable, and the entrance to the courtyard is located between two tall square gatepiers.
