Description
Graham’s Hall is a farmhouse, probably dating from the second quarter of the 18th century, although incorporating earlier fabric. The house is constructed of chamfered ashlar margins and has a boulder base on the north side and a thick northwest gable. It has sash windows, with smaller first-floor windows to the rear (northeast) above a modern kitchen wing, featuring 12-pane glazing.
The southwest elevation features a modern porch that obscures the original round-headed doorway, which has a key-stoned and architraved surround, and 4-pane glazing. A moulded eaves cornice runs along the top, and moulded skews are continued as a horizontal string course below the chimney stacks. Decorative skewputts bearing rosettes are also present. The roof is slightly swept at the eaves and covered with graded slates.
Behind the house (to the northeast) is a barn and byre arranged in parallel, both built of rubble with ashlar dressings and whitewashed. The barn is of 18th-century origin, with slit ventilators in the southwest gable, and was extended to the northeast in the earlier or mid-19th century. The byre was likely built at the same time as the extension.
