Description

The limekilns at Barjarg consist of a group of three kilns, with one additional kiln to the north, likely added in the early 19th century. Construction occurred around 1790. The kilns are built of rubble with ashlar dressings. There are three east-facing segmental-arched openings, each containing a double kiln. The northernmost opening is smaller and features stugged red ashlar dressings. The kilns have rubble-lined flues. Records dating from 1793 to 1811, relating to the Barjarg lime quarry, are held in the Scottish Record Office, reference GD78/233.
