Description
Porterstown is an earlier 19th-century, two-storey, three-bay farmhouse. The exterior is of painted rubble with painted margins. The east-facing elevation features a pilastered central doorway with a deeply recessed panelled door and splayed reveals. Above the door is a small-paned rectangular fanlight, and a plate-glass sash window. The remaining windows are 12-pane sashes. The roof is covered with graded slates and has corniced end stacks.
A lower, rear wing, which was later raised to two storeys with the addition of a west-facing forestair on its gable, projects westward from the north side of the main house. A single-storey range adjoining a lean-to forms an addition in the re-entrant angle.
Historic Environment Scotland drawings show alterations at the rear of the house, including a proposed columned porch. The associated steading is not included in the listing. The statutory address is Porterstown Farmhouse.
