Description
Barndennoch is an earlier 19th-century farmhouse, with alterations made in the mid 19th century. It is arranged in an H-plan, comprising a 2-storey, 3-bay central block with single-bay wings extending to each side. The farmhouse is constructed of whitewashed rubble with contrasting painted margins. The south elevation features a square central porch situated between ground-floor bipartites, and end stacks. Each wing has a round-headed window opening within a shallow panel. The left wing is two storeys high and has a 2-bay west elevation. Most windows are sash windows with a horizontal glazing pattern; the ground-floor west-facing windows have been enlarged. The roof is covered with graded slates. The courtyard elevation includes a swept-roofed outshot linked to the wings by low bays. Plans and elevations held by the National Monuments Record of Scotland show that the wings originally had square-headed ground-floor windows without panels.
