Description
The stables at Corsock House consist of two two-storey ranges with shorter single-storey ranges to the east and west, which enclose a square stable yard. The southern range is likely from the early 19th century, while the northern range is probably the work of architect David Bryce around 1853, coinciding with his additions to Corsock House. The buildings are constructed of painted rubble with red sandstone margins and feature slate roofs.
The northern range has a piend roof and includes a cart arch to the left and an enlarged door at the extreme left. Above, there is a bothy with a variety of glazing, including some sash and case 9-pane windows and some metal-framed lying panes. The roofs are swept slate, with axial sandstone stacks and tall octagonal cans on the wallhead to the right.
The southern range features a round tower at the left angle and has vehicle entrances on the ground level, which are covered by a glazed cast-iron cantilevered canopy. To the right, there are stables on the ground floor with original timber stalls, and above, there is loft and bothy accommodation. The gables are crow-stepped, the roofs are slate, and the conical tower roof is covered with fish scale slates.
The single-storey ranges are built of rubble and also have slate roofs.
