Description
This is a pair of fruit stores, built in 1745, within the walled garden at Arbigland House. The stores are part of an irregular octagonal walled garden enclosure. They are identical in design, circular in plan, and feature an oculus (circular opening) above the door. Their roofs are conical and slate-covered, and were formerly ornamented with acorn finials. The fruit stores are built of rubble stone with ashlar coping. Captain J.B. Blackett's pamphlet, "Arbigland,” contains further details (a copy of which is held in the Ewart Library).
