Description

This is a 1745-built greenhouse located within the walled garden at Arbigland House. The walled garden itself is an irregular octagon, enclosed by high rubble walls with ashlar coping. A range of greenhouses and gates sits at the north end. A south gate is flanked by two identical, circular fruit stores, each featuring an oculus above the door and a conical slate roof, formerly adorned with acorn finials. Captain J B Blackett’s pamphlet, ‘Arbigland’, provides additional details.
