Description

This building is a greenhouse, part of a walled garden constructed in 1745 at Arbigland House. The garden is an irregular octagonal enclosure. The walls are high, built of rubble stone and have ashlar coping. A range of glasshouses and gates is located at the north end, while the south gate is flanked by two identical, circular fruit stores. Each fruit store has an oculus above the door and a conical slate roof, originally topped with acorn finials. Captain J.B. Blackett's pamphlet, "Arbigland," provides further details.
