Description
St John's School, dated 1885, is a building with Gothic detailing that is now used as offices. It stands two storeys high with a railed basement and features three bays with mullioned and transomed windows. The inner bay has a perpendicular traceried window on the ground floor, flanked by crenellated tall octagonal turrets, and there are outer buttresses. The building is constructed of bull-faced red ashlar with polished dressings. The outer ground floor windows have flat ogee heads, while the first floor windows are depressed-arched with shallow-gabled heads positioned above the main eaves level. A string course between the floors steps down as a hood-mould over the central window. The roof is slate, and there are low ranges at the rear.
