Description
32 Parliament Street is a building dating from around 1898, designed in the Gothic style. It stands three storeys high and features gabled dormers. The structure has three bays, with a prominent central entrance bay that rises as a tower topped with a spire, which includes a five-light wooden belfry. The corners of the building are accentuated by tourelles with gargoyle brackets. The roofs are covered with fishtail slates and have ornamental leaded dressings. The exterior is made of grit stone ashlar and includes a battlemented parapet with machicolations.
The windows are casement style, consisting of two, three, and four lights, all with pointed heads, mullions, transoms, and hood moulds. The first floor features bay windows with parapets that display a plaque inscribed with '1898'. On the ground floor, there are granite Corinthian columns and pilasters that support arched openings, topped with a cornice and parapet. These are flanked by lions rampant bearing shields. The shop windows have arcaded top lights and a deeply recessed central entrance.
