Description

Loreburn United Free Church, located on Loreburn Street in Dumfries, was designed by Crombie and Son in 1879 and incorporates an earlier church from 1829. The church features a three-bay street elevation, consisting of a nave and aisles, with square porches at the recessed flanking bays. It is constructed from red ashlar and includes hood-moulded pointed openings and pinnacled buttresses. The tall Y-traceried windows are positioned at gallery level and below the gable head, with flanking aisle windows that have deep decorative parapets above them. The porches also feature parapets and pointed doorways, and the building is topped with a slate roof.

Inside, the church has a gallery that extends along three sides, with a panelled front supported by decorative cast-iron columns. The pulpit and organ are located at the eastern end, with halls situated at the rear.
